13 Itineraries, 3 Coasts, Endless Sunshine: Princess Cruises’ New Season Has It All

There’s something timeless about the lure of the Pacific—the shimmer of sunlight off California’s coast, the volcanic silhouettes of Hawaii at dusk, and the rhythm of Mexican surf towns that seem to pulse with warmth long after sunset. For travelers dreaming of sea breezes and scenic coastlines, Princess Cruises’ newly announced 2027–2028 West Coast season offers a fresh invitation to rediscover the Pacific in slow, sunlit style.

The cruise line has unveiled its upcoming schedule featuring 70 sailings across 13 itineraries from September 2027 through April 2028. According to Princess Cruises, eight ships will explore destinations along the California coast, Mexico, and Hawaii, with departures available from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver, B.C. The season, now open for bookings, combines convenience with variety—offering everything from four-day coastal getaways to 16-day island-hopping journeys across the Pacific.

“Princess Cruises has been Los Angeles’ hometown cruise line for nearly 60 years, and no one sails the West Coast quite like we do,” said Jim Berra, Chief Commercial Officer for Princess Cruises.

“We connect guests effortlessly to the sun-soaked beauty of the Pacific Coast, Mexico, and Hawaii. Our long-standing presence on the West Coast is a point of pride and a promise that we’ll continue to deliver unforgettable vacations.”

The lineup features voyages aboard Coral Princess, Crown Princess, Discovery Princess, Emerald Princess, Island Princess, Royal Princess, Ruby Princess, and the newest Star Princess. Each ship brings its own character—whether that’s a serene pool deck with open-ocean views, or wine-paired dinners inspired by California’s vineyards. Collectively, they form a fleet designed for both adventure and relaxation, tailored to travelers who want to see more without the long flights or airport lines.

Mexico: A Classic Escape with New Depth

Mexico remains a highlight of the new season, with 34 departures spanning four unique itineraries. Travelers can embark on roundtrip sailings from Los Angeles or San Francisco, exploring up to eight destinations including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta. Some sailings include late-night or overnight stays, allowing guests to linger as local nightlife comes alive. It’s an ideal option for those seeking short winter escapes filled with warm evenings, oceanfront dining, and coastal culture—all just a few hours from home.

Hawaii: The Long, Lazy Voyage That Feels Like a Dream

For travelers craving a deeper journey, Princess Cruises will offer 18 departures across two 16-day itineraries to Hawaii. Sailing aboard Crown Princess, Emerald Princess, or Ruby Princess, guests can experience four Hawaiian islands on a single voyage. The itineraries feature extended stays in Honolulu and Kona, offering time to explore beaches, volcanoes, and island traditions through the cruise line’s Aloha Spirit program—complete with hula lessons, lei-making, and island-inspired cuisine served onboard.

California Coast: Familiar Shores with Fresh Perspectives

Closer to home, California’s own coastline becomes a star of the 2027–2028 season. Princess will operate 17 departures across nine itineraries that connect iconic ports such as San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and Victoria, B.C. Guests can sail under the Golden Gate Bridge or watch the sunset from the deck as the ship glides past rugged coastal cliffs. The itineraries blend culture, cuisine, and convenience, highlighting the region’s diversity—from wine country excursions to the historic waterfronts of the Pacific Northwest.

Culture at Sea

Beyond the destinations, Princess continues to bring local flavor onboard. Guests can join tequila tastings inspired by Mexico’s agave fields, or enjoy curated wine programs that have earned the cruise line accolades from Wine Spectator. On select voyages, Star Princess will host exclusive Caymus Vineyards Winemaker Dinners and Gérard Bertrand Wine Tastings—immersive experiences that reflect the brand’s emphasis on culinary craftsmanship at sea.

Why It Matters for Travelers

In an era when travelers increasingly value ease, sustainability, and immersive cultural experiences, the West Coast cruise season fits neatly into evolving travel preferences. No flights are needed to board in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Vancouver—reducing both travel stress and carbon impact. The itineraries also cater to different lifestyles: retirees seeking long voyages, families looking for convenient getaways, and couples drawn to the idea of slow, scenic travel where the journey itself becomes the destination.

For many, the magic lies in the simplicity. Watching whales breach off the California coast, sailing beneath the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver, or stepping onto a Hawaiian island at sunrise—these are experiences that transcend itineraries. With its new season, Princess Cruises is inviting travelers to see the Pacific anew, one coastline at a time.
