World renowned for its luxury spas that are consistently ranked among the "Best Spas in America," Miami is launching its first-ever Miami Spa Month today.

More than 20 of Miami's premier spas will offer $99 treatments – representing a savings of 50% or more off the retail value.

Organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) along with Presenting Sponsor America Express, Miami Spa Month is one of the only events of its kind where a destination offers month-long special price incentive for visitors and locals alike.

Miami spas have earned a reputation in recent years as oases of pleasure, relaxation and peace that offer world-class treatments in stunning settings.  Many overlook the Atlantic Ocean or Biscayne Bay and are tranquil sanctuaries located in the most luxurious hotels and resorts in Greater Miami and the Beaches.

Treatments offered by the spas during Miami Spa Month include aromatherapy facials, Oriental foot therapy, a 30-minute body polish followed by a 30-minute back massage, a 90-minute "ocean wrap" and a milk and honey massage with organic scalp treatment.  One particularly creative offering, entitled "Journey to Havana," is inspired by Miami's popular Mojito cocktail and includes a treatment with mint oil, sugar body scrub and Vichy shower water massage.

Located throughout Greater Miami and the Beaches, a sampling of spas participating in the inaugural Miami Spa Month includes:

In addition, American Express Cardmembers will receive an additional 10% off on regularly priced spa products and treatments during their visit.

"American Express is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and to support spa merchants as the Presenting Sponsor of Miami Spa Month," said Howard Fulton, Regional Vice President and General Manager, American Express Merchant Services.  "The program encourages both residents and visitors to take advantage of the great services offered by Miami’s top-notch spas."

Miami Spa Month also coincides with Miami's Festival Season, which offers nearly non-stop festivals from April through September. The festivals showcase the rich traditions of the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, Europe and more in kaleidoscopic celebrations that reflect the city's diverse ethnicity, arts, culture, sports and history.
