Baring any unforeseen hitches in plans, Turkish Airlines would commence direct flight operations from Istanbul, to Nigeria's capital, Abuja, on or before next month.
This assurance was given by the nation's ambassador to Turkey, His Excellency, Ahmed Abdulhameed Madori.
Noting that there was need to have other direct flights between the two countries, Madori said "the Turkish Airlines will commence direct operations from Istanbul to Abuja on or before August, 2008 as plans have been concluded for the take-off for investors from both countries to have easy and smooth movement". Earlier, the leader of the Nigerian delegation, who courted Turkish investors to bring their investments into Nigeria, observed that Nigeria has one of the best business environments that any investor would want to take advantage of. According to Bello, "the Federal Government has plans to build industrial parks, clusters, more free zones in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country to add to the existing ones. This is to enable government to concentrate on the development of infrastructures and other facilities for the smooth operation of identified business".
Bello, who assured interested Turkish investors of special industrial incentives such as duty rebate and relaxed foreign exchange, further supported his view as to why Nigeria is investor-friendly. |
