USA Istanbul General Consulate Sharon Wiener and Beyoglu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan attended the event. The free public concert drew great attention of tourists and Istanbulities at a historical atmosphere under the Galata Tower.

Whim 'n Rhythm of Yale University was founded in 1981 to create an a cappella tradition that would capitalize on the musical strong points of women's ensemble, unite senior women from the three existing female singing groups and "promote and reflect the dignity of women and women's experience".
