Tom Cappucci, President of the International Association of Conference Centers-Americas has announced the election of new directors for a two-year term from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2011.  

Michele Dionne, CMP, Senior Conference Sales Manager at Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose, CA.  Since 2001, Ms Dione has served as Conference Sales Manager at Dolce's American Airlines Training & Conference Center in Fort Worth, Texas and at Dolce Norwalk in Connecticut. 

Dionne holds a bachelor's degree in hotel administration and travel and tourism planning from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, N.H., and earned her Certified Meeting Planner designation in 2006 and Certified Newmarket Systems Analyst designation in 2008.  She has been an IACC member since 2007, and will chair its Education Committee for 2010 and has served as co-chair of its Global Study Tour for the last two years.

Dan Techman, Director of Sales & Marketing at Doubletree Guest Suites and Conference Center Chicago/Downers Grove.  A 23-year veteran of the industry, Mr. Techman has been actively involved in IACC on the Learning Network in Chicago (2005/2006) and on the Annual Conference Planning Committee for the 2008 and 2009 annual conferences.   He served as Director of Sales & Marketing at Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center Chicago North Shore - Skokie (2004-2006) and currently at Doubletree Guest Suites & Conference Center Chicago/Downers Grove as Director of Sales & Marketing.

Three members of the Board were also re-elected to serve another two-year term. 

Melissa Fromento (Group Publisher for MeetingsNet magazines)  has served on the Thought Leadership Committee and participated in the association's inaugural Summit in October 2008 which focused on generational characteristics and tendencies among other key elements and trends relative to the conference center difference.  She continues to serve as Committee Chair for the 2010 Thought Leader Summit for March 2010 titled:  Incorporating Advanced Technology into the Meeting Experience.

Tom Cole (Fearless Leader at the Arden Shisler Conference Center, Woostor, OH) was also re-elected to the Board.  Cole has served as Chair of IACC's Learning Network for the past two years identifying professional development needs of the membership and organizing, promoting, and implementing programs that meet those needs.  The Committee actively promotes regional roundtables.  He also serves as a member of the Quality Committee which monitors IACC's Universal Criteria to reflect new guidelines as appropriate and oversees third-party inspections of all member properties.

Sean Anderson (Vice President Operations, Sodexo Conferencing) has been actively involved in IACC's marketing committee and helped lead the groups electronic / web initiatives for the past several years.  He has participated in numerous regional roundtables and industry focus groups and continues to serve as Chair of IACC's Membmer2Member Committee which strives to improve membership value and internal communications.

Board Associate

The Board of Directors also named its fifth Board Associate.  Meghan M. Bollenback, Food & Beverage Manager at the R David Thomas Executive Conference Center  in Durham, NC was tapped as the new Board Associate to represent the voice of the younger generations to IACC. 

According to Cappucci, "the Board Associate position has been instrumental in providing a generational represent tation of environmental stewardship, cutting-edge technology and emerging societal trends that have kept IACC ahead of the curve and had a significant impact on the industry."

Bollenback holds a BBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management from James Madison University.  In nominating her to the position, Ken Lile, General Manager at R. Davis Thomas Executive Conference Center said, "while it is evident that Meghan has already demonstrated her leadership capability, she would be an asset to IACC because of her strong interest and understanding of not only our Conference Center, but her willingness to learn and contribute to conference centers as a whole.  She is a bright, energetic and passionate leader that would serve the IACC Board extremely well in the upcoming year."

Created early in 2007, the position of Board Associate was established with "a particular focus of identifying and advising the Board of Directors on emerging trends from the perspective of Millennials and Generations X and Y.

The IACC Board of Directors is made up of a total of 20 elected members and is comprised of persons who represent Active, Allied, Affinity Partner or Corporate Headquarters members in good standing.

Tom Cappucci stated, "The election of these hospitality experts brings a wide range of skills and experience to the Board of Directors at a time when IACC is moving forward with dynamic initiatives that will continue to provide exceptional meeting experiences."

As the governing body of IACC-Americas, directors are actively involved in all its operating committees and task forces including Annual Conference, Quality, Marketing, Membership, Leadership Development, Green Task Force, Emerging Trends, and the IACC Learning Network.

IACC was established to provide and promote market awareness of conference centers as offering separate, distinct and special places and services; to collect and distribute information on the industry and its trends; to provide an exchange of experiences among its members; to address common problems, needs and opportunities; to provide programs and services that assist members in operating more effectively; and to respond to the needs and interests of conference center users as determined by the Board of Directors.
