3,7 million tourists Visited Moscow in 2009

According to the data of the Committee for Tourism of Moscow, about 3.7 million foreigners visited Moscow last year (4.1 million people in 2008). The number of foreign tourists visited Moscow in 2009 decreased by 10%. The dramatic decline of tourist flow was noted from the UK (-32.3%) and Turkey (-30.7%). The tourist flow from the USA (-15.2%), China (-12.5%) and Italy (-10.2%) decreased as well. Nevertheless, Moscow was a very popular destination among the tourists from Israel last year. The number of Israeli tourists increased by 19.8% if to compare with 2008. At the moment, the authorities try to find the solutions for minimizing the negative results of global crisis in tourism sphere. They plan to support the constructions of new hotels that will help to increase the competiveness of the market and make the owners of the hotels to bring down the prices. It's planning to receive more than 4 million tourists in 2010.
