rus-aviation-authority.jpgRussian Aviation Authority published January's official statistics of passenger traffic of Russian airlines.

According to this data, the passenger flow in January 2010 increased by 34% in comparison with the same period of 2009.

The increase was mostly noted for international flights, the demand for them rose for 35%. It's interesting that the number of flights abroad increased by 39% as for the near abroad countries, the dynamics of growth was not so considerable, just +11%. The dynamics of growth for domestic flights was very impressive with indicator of +30%.

It's important to note that the percentage of the occupancy of the seats and enplaned traffic increased in January, 2010. The occupancy of the seats increased by 5.5% (from 66.5% to 71.9%). As for international flights - from 68.9% to 75.5% and from 62.9% to 66.7% (+3.8%) for domestic flights. The enplaned traffic increased by 4.8% (62.4%) in comparison with January, 2009. In general, about 3.4 million people were transported in January by Russian air carries.

However, some top managers of airlines explain that one shouldn't jump to conclusions. Fist Deputy General Director of S7 Group Anton Eremin thinks that the growth of passenger traffic was provoked by dumping wars of some airlines, which means that "profitability was minimal".
