A total of forty international congress sector businesses in the last
week of June visited the convention facilities at Fiera Milano Congressi and
the city of Milan, and the most interesting places in the Lombardy capital, in
a four day tour, choc-a-bloc with things to do, see and visit.
It's the
incoming workshop habitual of the Destination Milan project, organised by Fiera
Milano Congressi. The guest, from France, Germany, the UK, Scandinavia, the
Netherlands and Belgium were able to see and get to know all about the Milanese
congressional set-up, visiting the operational areas of MIC - Milano Convention
Centre at Fieramilanocity (the MIC will become the highest capacity structure
by 2011, when the expansion works will be completed); the convention hub which
Fiera Milano Congressi manages on the Como Lake at Cernobbio (Spazio Villa
Erba); the Milanese hotel network complete with meeting rooms which are part of
the Destination Milan package, the exclusive brand used in the promotion of
Milan as a convention destination ( www.destinationmilan.it ).
"Businesses attending
MICE are seeking a city which knows how to match convention facilities with
great cultural events and entertainment and of course an excellent hotel
network. Milan comes up to scratch, but often a distorted image is perceived
abroad" explains Maurizio Lupi, Fiera Milano Congressi. "We have decided
therefore to invite foreign convention sector businesses here and to help them
get to know the city, just as you would with an honoured guest. The activity
has awakened considerable interest, and is giving some initial results".
